Mobile high-tech interactive exhibit showcases state’s tourist destinations
AUSTIN – First Lady Anita Perry today launched Texas on Tour a mobile high-tech interactive exhibit that uses the latest techniques in virtual reality to promote travel to Texas across the nation. Texas will be showcased by a 53 foot-long trailer that when stationed expands to cover an area of 80 feet by 50 feet with a 30 foot enclosed dome event stage virtual reality room game kiosks and much more.
“From lush forests to sandy beaches and rolling hills to scenic desert the Texas landscape is as diverse as its tourist attractions” said Mrs. Perry. “Texas on Tour will reach millions of Americans to showcase the many exciting destinations Texas has to offer.”
The display houses a Virtual Reality Kayak simulator showcasing the state’s geographic diversity by taking riders on an exhilarating journey through the many waterways within and around our borders from the rapids of the Rio Grande to the rolling waves of the Gulf of Mexico.
The dome area features a holographic singing cowboy who shares the legendary tales and historic accounts that have enriched our heritage. On the Event Stage visitors will experience the big city nightlife with performances by Texas musicians.
Interactive games present a realistic taste of many of the exciting activities Texas has to offer giving people across the nation even more reason to choose Texas as their vacation destination.
Gov. Rick Perry proclaimed May 10-18 2008 Texas Tourism Week. This week celebrates the value and economic impact of tourism. Texas is one of the most visited states in the nation. In 2006 total travel spending in the state contributed nearly $54 billion dollars to the Texas economy. The travel industry employs 521000 Texans.
