Flores: House Votes to Punish Sanctuary Cities

Bill Flores (R-TX) after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 3009 the Enforce the Law for Sanctuary Cities Act on a 241-179 vote.   

We still have a lot of work ahead of us to secure our nation  there are more than 200 cities and counties including a couple of states undermining our nations immigration enforcement efforts through the use of sanctuary polices  but putting an end to sanctuary cities and ensuring that current laws are being enforced is a good place to start said Flores. The recent death of Kate Steinle could have been prevented had San Francisco authorities followed federal immigration laws and not released her eventual murderer  a person illegally in the U.S. with multiple felony convictions and five previous deportations.

House Republicans passed the legislation Thursday to deny federal funds to sanctuary cities in the aftermath of the slaying in San Francisco this month that involved a habitual illegal immigrant. The bill passed 241-179 and would withhold certain federal law enforcement grants to cities that have policies designed to shelter illegal immigrants from deportation.
