Budget Committee Approves Republican Budget
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House Budget Committee has passed the Republican “Path to Prosperity” budget for fiscal year 2015. Following the committee’s passage of the budget, Congressman Bill Flores (R-Texas) released the following statement:
“President Obama recently released his budget which called for higher taxes, more spending and bigger government. His budget proposal leads America down a path of never ending deficits with no efforts to balance the federal budget and fails to meet America’s fiscal challenges.
“The House Republican Budget sets forth a blueprint to reform wasteful federal spending habits, help our economy grow and create an environment for a healthier economy and more jobs. It also creates a more accountable, efficient and effective government. This budget will cut federal spending by $5.1 trillion and achieves balance in 10 years, without raising taxes.
“This responsible, balanced budget will help promote a path to American energy security by increasing opportunities to expand production of America’s abundant energy resources. By opening up energy development on federal lands we can raise new revenue, lower home heating prices and create jobs. This will help in achieving our ultimate goal of energy security by 2020.
“Additionally, the budget restores the president’s proposed cuts to our military and defense, repeals Obamacare, provides for much needed entitlement reform and sets the stage for fundamental tax reform. In all, the reforms laid out in the budget will provide for a healthy economy for hardworking American families and move us away from what has become the new normal of debt, doubt and economic decline. Instead, it sets our nation on a path to restore America’s promise, prosperity and security.”
Congressman Bill Flores represents the 17th District of Texas and is an entrepreneur, former energy executive, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and member of the House Budget, Natural Resources and Veterans’ Affairs Committees.
