House Approves Keystone XL Pipeline
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. The U.S. House of Representatives has passed H.R. 3 the Keystone XL Pipeline Act. Following passage of the bill Congressman Bill Flores (R-Texas) issued the following statement:
The Keystone XL pipeline will bring thousands of jobs and enhanced energy security for America. Its construction is widely supported by a large majority of Americans. Yet for over 2300 days its application has been stymied due to President Obamas unwillingness to have it approved. Today marks the 10th time the House has passed this bipartisan job-creating project. I look forward to the new Republican-led Senate taking swift action to approve construction of the pipeline.
Our nations energy situation is an integral part of our economic and national security. The key to shaping both a healthy economy for our country and to improve our national security is for us to adopt a robust energy strategy. That energy strategy can begin to take shape with the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. This would allow the U.S. access to secure stable oil supplies from a strong North American ally and our largest trading partner. It will also help greatly reduce our reliance on unstable Middle Eastern energy sources.
Rather than listen to the wants and needs of hardworking American families it is disappointing that the president has already decided to veto this jobs bill. Both the House and the Senate are prepared to continue working to approve this shovel-ready project. If the president truly cares for our families as well as their jobs and paychecks he will follow the lead of our new Congress and approve the Keystone XL pipeline immediately."
