“The House continues to work to fund critical parts of the federal government. . . “
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Since October 7, the House of Representatives has passed the Honoring the Families of Fallen Soldiers Act, the Flight Safety Act, the Head Start for Low-Income Children Act, the Federal Worker Pay Fairness Act, the FDA Safety Act and the Deficit Reduction and Economic Growth Working Group Act. Congressman Flores (R-Texas) released the following statement regarding the passage of these bills:
“The House continues to work to fund critical parts of the federal government. We made certain that our promises are kept to the families of our fallen military men and women. The House ensured that the FAA, FDA and Head Start continue to receive the funding needed to stay operational. Additionally, the House passed a bill that makes sure that ‘essential’ federal employees, who are currently working, receive their pay as scheduled. The House also passed a bill proposing a negotiating team for bipartisan, bicameral discussions regarding reopening the government and addressing the nation’s fiscal challenges in a responsible manner.
“The House has now approved 13 targeted funding bills, which fund approximately 40 percent of the federal government. All of these bills passed the House with bipartisan support and a couple with unanimous support. The House continues to wait for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to have the Senate vote on 12 of these bills. In addition, our invitation remains open for President Obama and Senator Reid to sit down with the House and address the nation’s critical fiscal challenges.”
