House Passes Continuing Resolution
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.J. Res 59, a continuing appropriations resolution (CR) for fiscal year 2014. Following passage of this resolution, Congressman Bill Flores (R-Texas) released the following statement:
“With passage of this continuing resolution, the House keeps post-sequester level spending in place, avoids a government shutdown, and ensures our nation will not default on its debt obligations. In addition, this continuing resolution will defund the implementation and enforcement of the budget-busting, job-destroying government takeover of American health care, known as ObamaCare. By voting in support of this continuing resolution, I have once again fulfilled my continuing commitment to stop the ObamaCare ‘train wreck’. Simultaneously, I worked to ensure that our military men and women continue to receive their pay as this continuing resolution will fund the federal government through mid-December.
“This resolution allows us to continue working on the issues that are important to America such as cutting wasteful spending, creating jobs, growing our economy and fixing an out-of-control Washington.
“Following passage of the continuing resolution, I, along with all of my fellow Texas Republican colleagues, sent a letter to all the Senators asking them to continue the fight to stop ObamaCare. For the 2 ½ years I have been in Congress, the House has been vigilant in working to repeal this government takeover of health care – especially now as we are seeing the adverse affects that the implementation of this law is having on businesses and families alike.
“Now is the time for the Senate to follow the lead of the House and ensure ObamaCare is stopped,” said Flores.
