Greenvilles Jesse Rockett is House District 2 recipient
Texas Insider Report: GREENVILLE Texas His ambition is infectious. With his determination and passion for his studies I have no doubt that Jesse will achieve whatever goals he sets for himself said State Rep. Dan Flynn while awarding
the Texas Armed Services Scholarship (TASSP) from House District 2 to
Jesse Rockett a resident of Greenville Texas. Rockett must commit to at least 4 years of ROTC service while in college and receive a commission or agree to enroll in a branch of the armed services upon graduation.
The scholarship could not have been given to a more well-rounded and driven individual said Flynn.
Jesse comes from a long line of Naval service men and women. His parents Bill & Carmen Rockett both served in the U.S. Navy; his father still serves in the Naval reserves; his great grandfather was a decorated WWII Naval Aviator earning the Distinguished flying cross with Valor four Air Medals with Valor the Asiatic Campaign Medal with two bronze stars the American Campaign medal and the World War II Medal.
One of the Rockett family traditions Jesse is excited to continue is the passing down of his great grandfathers WWII naval sword from one generation to the next" Flynn said.
Flynn said he was pleased to announce the scholarship covers up to $10000 per year in order to encourage

academic development and dedication to the various branches of the state and federal armed services.
Educated through home schooling Jesse Rockett is dual enrolled at Paris Junior College and Texas A&M - Commerce. Through A&M he has joined the TAMU Corps of Cadets and Naval ROTC. He intends to study Ocean Engineering at Texas A&M with the hopes of acquiring enough math and science knowledge to become eligible for admittance into the United States Naval Academy and eventually become a Submarine or Surface Warfare Officer.
His love for the ocean consumes not only his career aspirations but drives much of his extracurricular activities as well. Said Flynn.
There is no question in the drive ambition and dedication Rockett has to his academics and service both to his community and his country. An active volunteer in the political process locally and statewide Rockett has assisted in multiple state and district campaigns and has been accepted to the Patriot Academy a mock style government conference which teaches students the policy and procedures of the state Legislature.
He is active with his church local choirs and can play both the banjo and piano. He is currently working

towards earning the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and his black belt in Karate" noted Flynn.
The Texas Armed Service Scholarship is awarded to an eligible and deserving student appointed by his or her State Representative or Senator the Lieutenant Governor or Governor.
The
TASSP has been created to assist promising students from throughout the state who are committed to education and service. It encourages young leaders to participate in the Texas Guard Army National Guard or Air National Guard or to become commissioned officers in the United States armed services.
Representative Flynn is a native Texan who serves House District 2 which includes Hunt Rains & Van Zandt Counties. He currently serves on the House Committee on Defense & Veterans Affairs as well as Homeland Security & Public Safety. He is chairman of the Texas Legislative Sportsman Caucus.
