
AUSTIN TX Former Congressman Henry Bonilla (R-San Antonio) has announced he is endorsing Elizabeth Ames Jones in her bid to be the next U.S. Senator from Texas.
Elizabeth Ames Jones is the conservative leader Texas needs in Washington" said Bonilla.
Henry provided exceptional representation for Texas 23rd Congressional district including my home town of San Antonio for years" said Jones.

Congressman Henry Bonilla served 14 years in Congress. During his first term in office Time Magazine chose him as one of Americas Top 50 Young Leaders and in his final term in office Congressman Bonilla was rated by Congress.org as the seventh most influential member of Congress. Bonilla was the first Republican Hispanic ever elected to Congress from Texas.

Congressman Bonilla joins a distinguished group of Texans supporting Commissioner Jones U.S. Senate campaign. This summer Commissioner Jones announced Governor and Mrs. William P. Clements as the Honorary Chairmen of her U.S. Senate campaign and Secretary and Mrs. Robert Mosbacher as the Honorary Finance Chairmen.
Texas Railroad Commissioner Elizabeth Ames Jones 53 was elected to the Texas Legislature in a landslide upset victory in 2000. In 2005 she was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to a vacancy on the Texas Railroad Commission and was overwhelmingly elected to serve a six-year term in 2006.
A noted expert in energy issues her energy commentaries have been published in the Wall Street Journal the Washington Post and other major newspapers. In the Texas legislature Elizabeth played an active role in passing tort reform legislation cutting government spending and promoting appraisal reform policy.
She is a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment right of citizens to keep and bear firearms. She and her husband Will are parents of two grown children. Jones is a candidate for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.
