On Tuesday Vice President Dick Cheney stood side by side with Kay Bailey Hutchison in Houston and endorsed her candidacy to become Texas next governor. Cheney noted Kays conservative leadership in the United States Senate and her reputation as a fighter for Texas who gets results as reasons to support her candidacy.
Anybody whos ever worked with Kay been around her for more than a few minutes knows that Texas is her number one priority. Shes a fighter for Texas. Shes gotten results...when it comes to being conservative Kay Bailey Hutchison is the real deal. -Vice President Dick Cheney
At a time when Americans are facing record deficits tax increases and unprecedented government intrusion into our lives Kay has stood up to the liberal forces in Washington and is leading the fight against the government takeover of healthcare and the job killing Cap and Trade legislation that would decimate Texas economy.
Kay has spent her career in public service as a leader who fights for Texas and for conservative policies that have kept Texas strong.
She was a leader in the fight to defeat a proposed state income tax she worked to establish the Texas sales tax deduction saving the average Texas family more than five hundred dollars a year. And she led the fight to suspend the marriage tax penalty that was punishing families.
Kay has stood up for Texas by fighting to secure our borders with the construction of a fence voting against amnesty and quadrupling the number of border patrol agents.

Now more than ever Texas needs a serious leader in the governors office who will always put Texas first. Kay is just the person for the job.
If you want to know what kind of governor Kay will be just look what shes fighting for now. Shes taking on the Democrats and government healthcare. Fighting the White House and their job-killing cap and trade policy.
It is time we have strong conservative leaders who will stand-up and fight for our freedoms and our conservative principles.
Kay is running for governor because she understands that the real challenges facing Texas cannot be fixed from Washington.
