Frustrated With This Financial Crisis&"?

width=65I am sure many of you have seen or heard that Congress and the President are considering a $700 Billion financial bailout to shore up America’s financial markets.

Without action we are told our economy faces a grave situation and a deep recession could follow. This is not the first time we have seen American taxpayers being asked to rescue industries whose failure threatens our very economy . . .and probably won’t be the last.

It seems there has been serious mismanagement perhaps even criminal action stemming from unbridled greed on Wall Street. Our financial markets and our biggest financial service companies should not treat our economy like a casino gaming operation.

I’m glad to see the FBI is already working on investigations into many of these companies.

While Congress ponders the details of this rescue package I hope they will keep one thing top in their minds – the American taxpayer must be protected and not treated like an open check book.

As your state representative I always fought to prevent abuse of our taxpayers and the trust they’ve placed in our elected government. Unchecked spending always led to increased taxes and few were willing to say “Enough is enough!”

I wasn’t afraid to stand up to those who wanted to increase your taxes then and I won’t be afraid to do it again.

Every day families across our area make difficult choices because of rising costs and tighter budgets. We must demand government at all levels do the same. Unfortunately the current state representative from our area doesn’t feel that way.

Like you I am frustrated with this crisis the difficult choices ahead and it is my sincerest hope that whatever package is created Congress will remember - always protect the taxpayer first!
