Leading Veterans Organization in Texas counted on to assist Veterans
San Antonio Texas -- Americas unemployment lines and homeless shelters have too many veterans in their midst. The American GI Forum-National Veterans Outreach Program (NVOP) recently was awarded the renewal of a two-year $850000 Veterans Workforce Outreach initiative grant by the Texas Workforce Commission.

NVOP.
However the need is far greater than what resources allow but we make sure the Vet is taken care of first!"
The
NVOP assists Veterans overcome barriers to their recovery from unemployment and even homelessness.
The grant will enhance the
NVOPs outreach as they continue providing Veteran intake and assessment for eligibility and suitability. This will assist the NVOP to determine remedy or amelioration for a Veterans job development and placement including follow-up and support services. The American GI Forum-National Veterans Outreach Program services Veterans throughout their four major field offices in San Antonio Houston Dallas/Fort Worth and El Paso.

The NVOP founded in 1972 with San Antonio as their Headquarters. It is recognized nationally as one of the premier service providers in this arena and has received numerous awards for its successful program operations including:
- the Department of Labors Regional Award for Cost Effectiveness
- the U.S. Department of HUDs National Blue Ribbon Award for Innovative Economic Development in an Enterprise Community for the creation of its VETS Box Manufacturing that employs the disables and
- the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans listing as a National Program Model.
