Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. On Wednesday the House of Representatives voted on H.Con.Res.27 to establish the budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2016 and set priorities for 2017. Congressman Green voted against this Republican budget and voted instead for the Democratic alternative. He released the following statement:
Budgets are a statement of values which is why I joined my Democratic colleagues in voting no on this budget and voting yes on a replacement plan that is focused on the priorities of the American people. The alternative budget would ensure critical investments in our infrastructure support our students and keep our promises to our seniors. Americans arent interested in an unworkable and unrealistic budget that cuts taxes for the wealthiest slashes education funding and threatens our seniors retirement savings.
By structuring our nations tax policies to help the middle class we will have greater economic growth while making investments in our infrastructure that will create well-paying jobs right here at home. This budget would also maintain critical programs for studentswhich are our nations best investmentand ensure that the 16 million Americans who can finally afford health insurance arent stripped of their new coverage."
