
DALLAS Heritage Alliances free Texas voter guide opened for online viewing Friday Oct. 1. For the first time Heritage Alliances research on all 560 candidates will be available to the general public at
www.txvoterguide.com.
Candidate grades A-F awarded by panels of Heritage Alliance members indicating confidence in each candidates conservatism are available to members of Heritage
Alliance.
Our 30 panelists gathered public information on 560 candidates in contested races" Michael Smith Executive Vice President said. Then groups of 3-5 panelists reviewed those findings and assigned a letter grade to each candidate.
The product is a concise voter guide that can be printed at home and taken to the voting booth. Voters wishing to study our research can do so online with just a click of the mouse."
The Heritage Alliance Voter Guide covers all statewide and federal contests in 247 counties and to the bottom of the ballot in some of Texas most populous counties: Bexar Collin Dallas Denton Harris Tarrant and Travis.
With this guide there is no need to wonder about a candidate whose name you dont recognize" said Smith. You can click on our research or take our grades as sound advice in choosing the conservative candidate."
Volunteers combed candidate web sites Facebook pages and the Texas Ethics Commission and Federal Election Commission web sites. In some cases information may have appeared at those sites after the research window closed.
In grading each candidate panelists considered (in order of importance):
Voting record (if any)
Donations to and from the candidate
Endorsements of and by the candidate
Statements from the candidates web site
Answers to Heritage Alliances survey
Although survey answers are least important no candidate could receive an A grade without answering the survey.
Grades for state and county candidates are available to Heritage Alliance members. Membership is free. Federal election laws restrict the availability of grades for federal candidates (U.S. Congress) to Heritage Alliance members who have also contributed at least $1.
