Gohmert Says Pres. Obama Should Maintain Foreign Relations Because Chinas Going to Have to Help Us Pay for This Budget

width=65WASHINGTON D.C. After the House passed a federal budget of unprecedented spending Rep. Louie Gohmert released the following statement reminding Washington that the road to economic recovery must be paved with relief for American citizens rather than the bloated federal government: Americans have been begging this government for years to stop out of control deficit spending and they voted for a change of majority party in Congress and leadership in the White House to get their point across. Yet when Democrats took the majority in Congress in 2007 and 2008 spending only got worse and in the very few months that President Obama has taken over this nations fiscal irresponsibility has reached unprecedented levels at a time when our citizens need relief the most. On top of passing a nearly trillion dollar stimulus" bill followed by a $400 billion omnibus appropriation Democrat leadership passed a $3.5 trillion budget promising record-setting deficits and $1.4 trillion in tax increases that will strangle those who are the key to helping this economy recover. This budget will double the national debt in five years and triple it in ten shackling our citizens their children and their childrens children to never before seen levels of debt that theyll spend the rest of their lives trying to reduce. The cap and tax" greenhouse emissions program will unnecessarily burden those who earn the least while also killing jobs sending more jobs overseas and putting American companies at a greater competitive disadvantage with foreign countries. This will also lead to higher energy costs on every American who flips on a light switch or drives a car raising energy bills by up to $1600 annually for the average household. Furthermore in the midst of rising unemployment rates this budget forces tax increases squarely on the backs of entrepreneurs and small businesses that create up to 70 of all new jobs in America. It should be clear by now that the statement that this budget spends too much taxes too much and borrows too much is not mere rhetoric but truth and the plan is the epitome of fiscal irresponsibility. Americans are making tough choices during difficult economic times but Speaker Pelosi Sen. Reid and their accomplices apparently believe this bloated federal government is exempt from making sacrifices and that the answer to our economic woes is more and more government. This level of spending is fatal to our economy and unsustainable. The long term effect of this outlandish and irresponsible government is best demonstrated by one recent action: the sending of Secretary of State Clinton to China to beg them to please keep loaning us money to enable our out-of-control continued spending binge." Rep. Louie Gohmert voted against the FY 2010 Budget H. Con. Res 85 which passed the House by a vote of 233-196 with no Republicans voting for the bill and twenty Democrats crossing the aisle to vote against the fiscally reckless plan. He instead supported two alternative budget proposals that were brought to the House floor but failed to pass. One plan offered by the Republican Study Committee would balance the budget by FY 2019 and cut the national debt by more than $6 trillion compared to President Obamas budget which almost unimaginably doubles the deficit in 5 years and triples it in 10 years. The Republican Conference also offered a plan that would create 2.1 million jobs more than the Democrat budget would NOT raise taxes at this worst possible time and would freeze all discretionary spending without affecting national defense or veterans. These plans focused directly on creating jobs providing tax relief and empowering Americans to lead the nation to recovery.  To view Rep. Gohmerts remarks on the House floor click here.
