Gov. Clements Remembered as Friend & Political Ally by Cong. Barton

width=71Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Congressman Joe Barton (R-Arlington/Ennis) released the following statement after learning about the death of Former Texas Governor Bill Clements: width=81I was saddened to hear the news of Governor Clements passing. He was a great political ally but an even better personal friend. He was a path finder for the Republican Party in Texas and a conservative leader. He changed the political landscape of our state. I admired him very much and I am going to miss him a lot. Throughout the years as Gov. Clements and Rep. Barton worked together as public officials they also became personal friends. In fact Gov. Clements served as Campaign Chairman when Rep. Barton ran for the Senate in 1993. Gov. Clements funeral will be held Thursday in Dallas at 4 p.m. at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church 8011 Douglas Ave.
