Gov. Perry Announces ETF Investments in Five San Antonio Companies

Rick Perry today announced the state will continue to cultivate its expanding technology sector through investments from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund (ETF) in five San Antonio area companies. Texas is the best state in the nation to live work and do business and the ETF is helping supercharge our technology environment by bringing Texans good ideas and hard work to the marketplace" Gov. Perry said. These five investments demonstrate the broad range of our states diverse industries and will help develop market and commercialize these innovative technologies." The ETF award announcements are as follows: AdviTech Inc. is receiving a $2.5 million investment to commercialize a therapy and solution for spatial disorientation vertigo and motion sickness. The companys software generates a display of an artificial horizon which is projected on the lenses of specially developed eyeglasses or pilot helmets to combat the illusions found in flight and control the human sensory mismatches causing spatial disorientation and motion sickness. America Stem Cell Inc. is receiving a $2.5 million investment to commercialize a potentially lifesaving bone marrow transplant enzyme technology. The technology has therapeutic potential for patients with cancer and other diseases by allowing the use of cord blood derived stem cells rather than attempting to find a compatible bone marrow transplant donor. Bio2Medical is receiving a $1 million investment to commercialize a temporary inferior vena cava filter to help critically ill patients with pulmonary complications. The filters are inserted into a patient to trap blood clots and prevent pulmonary emboli.
