Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – Gov. Rick Perry and Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin have signed a memorandum of understanding recognizing the right of the State of Texas to access the Texoma Pump Station at Lake Texoma. The reservoir lies on the Texas-Oklahoma border, and this agreement allows the Texoma Pump Station, jointly constructed by the North Texas Municipal Water District and Greater Texoma Utility Authority, to continue its authorized diversion of water from the pump without any additional authorization from Oklahoma.
“Water is an important resource for families and businesses on both sides of the Texas-Oklahoma border,” Gov. Perry said. “I’m pleased Gov. Fallin and I have reached an agreement that is appropriate for both of our states moving forward.
“I appreciate Gov. Perry’s leadership in negotiating the memorandum of understanding with Oklahoma that disposes of the boundary issue and addresses our right to reasonable access to waters along the Red River boundary with Oklahoma at all stages,” said State Sen. Craig Estes, Senate District 30.
