AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced the appointment of Elizabeth Anderson of Dallas to the Texas Public Safety Commission for a term to expire Dec. 2011. Anderson replaces Louis Sturns who resigned after being appointed a state district judge in Tarrant County. The commission is responsible for formulating and overseeing policies for the Texas Department of Public Safety the state’s chief law enforcement agency.
Anderson is a marketing and information technology consultant. She was appointed to the board of the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs in Sept. 2001 and has served as chair since Nov. 2003. Anderson has served on the board of directors for Senior Citizens of Greater Dallas the Family Place Nexus Recovery Center Girls Inc. Auxiliary and the Junior League of Dallas.
She was appointed by President George H.W. Bush as regional director of ACTION now the Corporation for National Service. Anderson received her bachelor’s degree with honors from Southern Methodist University and attended Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government program for senior managers in government.
This appointment is subject to senate confirmation.
