Gov. Perry Appoints Butler and Jackson to Texas Council

On Purchasing from People with Disabilities

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry appointed Les Butler of Fort Worth and Kevin M. Jackson of Austin to the Texas Council on Purchasing from People with Disabilities. The council assists persons with disabilities to achieve maximum personal independence by engaging in productive employment activities. 

Butler is chief operating officer of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and served as the deputy director for Regional Administrative Services.
He previously worked with the Texas Department of Human Services in various positions including regional administrator for three Texas regions regional director of budget operations regional director of business services and regional director of information technology. Butler received a bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist University and a master’s degree from the College for Financial Planning.
 
Jackson is retired after working with General Motors Corporation for 23 years in various positions.  He also served in the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve for 18 years as a motor transport maintenance chief. He is president of the Blinded Veterans Council and volunteers with the Criss Cole Rehabilitation Center. Jackson received a bachelor’s degree from Xavier University of Louisiana.
 
These appointments are subject to senate confirmation.
