AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed four members to the OneStar National Service Commission for terms to expire March 15 2011. The commission works with the OneStar Foundation to further national service initiatives in Texas and administer the AmeriCorps Texas program.
Stuart Babenco of El Paso is a stockbroker and president and owner of Franklin Financial Services. He is a member of the Financial Services Institute and treasurer of the Rotary Club of El Paso. He also volunteers with Hospice of El Paso. Babenco received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. He is being reappointed.
Nancy Bowlin of Midland is marketing director of the Bosworth Company. She is a board member of Casa de Amigos. She is a past member of the Education Committee of the Permian Basin Petroleum Association Desk and Derrick of Midland and the Midland Convention and Visitors Bureau. Additionally she is a past member of the Midland Symphony Guild and Leadership Midland Curriculum Committee and past board member of the United Way of Midland. Bowlin received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. She replaces Courtney Johnson of Waco.
Taylor Ellison of Austin is a student at the University of Texas at Austin and the youth representative to the board. She was previously an intern in the Office of Austin Mayor Will Wynn. Ellison participates in the University of Texas Student Government and volunteers as a mentor at Fulmore Middle School and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Austin. Additionally she is co-founder of Tye-Dye for Tomorrow a nonprofit organization that supports the Settlement Home for Children. Ellison replaces Randi Shade of Austin.
Michael Kling of Leander is a juvenile probation officer at Williamson County Juvenile Services. He is also a worship leader and youth pastor at Brushy Creek Church in Cedar Park. Kling formerly worked as a counselor to at-risk youth at American Youth Works and served as president and CEO of Team One Youth and Family Services in Pennsylvania. He received a bachelor’s degree from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania.
