Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Representative Stefani Carter (R-Dallas) has been appointed by Governor Rick Perry to serve on the Crime Victims Institute Advisory Council. The advisory council consists of the Texas Attorney General and 16 appointed persons with knowledge of crime & law including one member from the Texas House of Representatives.
Created by the 74th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature the Crime Victims Institute is intended to study the impact of crime on victims and survivors their families and society at large and evaluate the effectiveness of criminal justice and juvenile justice policies programs and services related to crime victims and their family members.
As a prosecutor and a member of the Criminal Jurisprudence Committee I am honored to be able to extend my knowledge and experience to crime victims and their family members said Carter.
Additionally members of the advisory council will develop policies to assist criminal justice and juvenile justice systems in preventing criminal victimization make general recommendations for improving crime victim services in the State of Texas and advise and assist the legislature in developing plans programs and legislation addressing the needs of victims and survivors.
Representative Carter received a law degree from Harvard Law School and a degree in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
She is also a former assistant district attorney of Collin County and currently an attorney in private practice.
