Gov. Perry Appoints Six to Lower Colorado River Authority

Published: 02-11-09 width=65AUSTIN Gov. Rick Perry has appointed six members to the Lower Colorado River Authority. The authority oversees activities of the Lower Colorado River Authority which delivers electricity manages water supply and protects water quality for the lower Colorado River and its tributaries.  Lori A. Berger of Flatonia is self employed. She is a past council member and mayor of the City of Flatonia. She is past vice chair of the Association of Rural Communities in Texas and a past board member of the Fayette County Gardenia Jansen Animal Shelter Fayette Memorial Hospital Foundation Department of Housing and Community Affairs Board Regional and State Review Committees. She is also past co-chair of the Flatonia Czhilispiel and a member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Committee and Flatonia Chamber of Commerce. Berger replaces Kay Carlton of La Grange for a term to expire Feb. 1 2015. John C. Dickerson III of Bay City is a financial advisor with Edward Jones. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and Matagorda County Bar Association and is a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. He is also a member of the Bay City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture and Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and chairman of the Bay City Convention and Visitors Bureau. Dickerson received a bachelors degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from South Texas College of Law. He is being reappointed for a term to expire Feb. 1 2015. Tom Martine of Cypress Mill is president of Martine Properties Inc. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute Austin Commercial Real Estate Association Real Estate Council of Austin and Austin Apartment Association. He is also a member of the Westcave Preserve Council Texas Wildlife Association and Austin Woods and Waters. He also serves on the Boy Scouts and Seton League House boards of directors. Martine replaces Brenda Adair of Blanco for a term to expire Feb. 1 2013. Michael G. McHenry of San Saba is owner of Cherokee Creek Inc. He is a member of the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association and Hill Country Viticulture Advisory Committee. He is also a volunteer counselor for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. McHenry attended Louisiana Tech University. He replaces Clayborne Nettleship of San Saba for a term to expire Feb. 1 2015. Vernon E Buddy Schrader of Horseshoe Bay is the retired vice president of Lubys Inc. He is a past member of the Horseshoe Bay City Council president of the Horseshoe Bay Property Owners Association and a past member of the Llano County Tax Appraisal and CASA boards of directors. He is also a member of the Llano County EMS Board. Schrader served in the U.S. Army Infantry and received a bachelors degree from Trinity University. He replaces Walter Garrett of Wharton for a term to expire Feb. 1 2015. Richard Dick" Scott of Wimberley is co-owner of Trans-Global Solutions Inc. He is a member of Delta Sigma Pi and the Boys and Girls Country Executive Committee. He is also a volunteer contributor for the Hays County FFA and 4H Club and a member of the Houston Livestock Show Lifetime Committee. Scott received a bachelors degree from Lamar University. He replaces Lucy Wilke of Kerrville for a term to expire Feb. 1 2015. These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
