Gov. Perry Appoints Three to Brazos River Authority Board

width=65AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed three to the Brazos River Authority board of directors. The board is responsible for developing and conserving the surface water resources of the Brazos River Basin.

Nancy Porter of Sugar Land is director of communications for the Fort Bend Independent School District. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the Texas and National School Public Relations Associations.

She is past planning and zoning commissioner for the city of Sugar Land a founding board member of Fort Bend Young Life and a graduate of the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce Leadership Forum. Porter received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston. She replaces Jacqueline Baly Chaumette of Sugar Land for a term to expire Feb. 1 2009.

John Steinmetz of Lubbock is market president for Security Bank. He is a member of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas. He is also a board member of the American Cancer Society Cattle Baron’s Ball and Lubbock Chamber of Commerce director of finance for Young Life and past president of the Boys and Girls Club. Steinmetz received a bachelor’s degree and graduate degree in banking from Texas Tech University. He replaces Jere M. Lawrence of Sweetwater for a term to expire Feb. 1 2009

Mary Ward of Granbury is regional president of Southwest Securities FSB. She is president of the Granbury Economic Development Board past vice president of the Acton Municipal Utilities Board and a member of the Granbury Chamber of Commerce.

She is also a HOSTS mentor and past member of the Special Education Advisory Board. Ward received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. She replaces Truman Blum of Clifton for a term to expire Feb. 1 2011.
