Gov. Perry Appoints Three to the Texas Residential Construction Commission

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry appointed three to the Texas Residential Construction Commission for terms to expire Feb. 1 2013. The commission registers homebuilders and enforces building performance standards.
 
Gerardo M. Garcia of Corpus Christi is CEO of Hacienda Construction Inc. He is past president and director of the Corpus Christi Area Builders Association and a director of the Texas Association of Builders. Garcia is also an associate director of First Community Bank and member of the National Association of Homebuilders. He received an associate’s degree from Del Mar College.
Glenda Mariott of College Station is president of GCM Designs and is being reappointed to the board. She is a director of the Texas Association of Builders Bryan-College Station Homebuilder’s Association and Bryan-College Station Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. Mariott is also a member of the National Association of Homebuilders. She received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University.
 
Mickey Redwine of Ben Wheeler is owner and CEO of Dynamic Cable Holdings Inc. and is being reappointed to the board. He is a past public member of the Texas State Bar Board of Directors appointed by the Supreme Court of Texas. He is also a member of the President’s Club and life member of the Brandon Carrell Society both subsidiaries of the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Redwine is a licensed Texas peace officer and works primarily in the field of narcotics. He is a member of the Texas Municipal Police Association Law Enforcement Alliance of America Texas Narcotics Officers Association and the International Narcotics Officers Association.
 
During the 78th Legislature lawmakers provided for eight positions within the Texas Residential Construction Commission each with specific backgrounds. Four members of the commission are homebuilders; three are public members; one is an engineer; and one is an inspector. The preceding appointments fill two of the homebuilder positions and one of the public member positions.
