Gov. Perry Names Brieden as Presiding Officer of Texas Veterans Commission

AUSTIN – Gov. Perry today named John Brieden of Brenham as presiding officer of the Texas Veterans Commission for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor. The commission guarantees Texas veterans and their families receive all the rights and entitlements provided for veterans of the U.S. and Texas armed forces. 
 
Brieden is currently a self-employed insurance agent and has been in the insurance business for 30 years. Previously he served in the U.S. Army where he was handpicked for the first Ranger Battalion since World War II and received the Soldiers Medal of Honor for Heroism.
Brieden was honorably discharged with the rank of captain. He is actively involved with the American Legion Washington County Chamber of Commerce and numerous other civic and business organizations.

Brieden is a distinguished military graduate of Texas A&M University where he received a bachelor’s degree.
