Gov. Perry Names Texas Reps for Interstate Educational Compact for Military Children

Rick Perry has named Texas Education Commissioner Robert Scott of Austin Texas Compact commissioner and Brenda Weber of College Station alternate commissioner of the Texas Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children pursuant to Senate Bill 90 of the 81st legislative session for terms to expire at the pleasure of the governor. The compact works to make school transitions easier for the children of active duty military personnel who move to Texas. Scott is commissioner of education for Texas and head of the Texas Education Agency. Appointed by the governor in 2007 his former positions include serving as the chief deputy commissioner for the Texas Education Agency and senior advisor for public education policy to the governor the Texas House of Representatives Texas Senate and U.S. House of Representatives. Scott received a bachelors degree and law degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Weber is a community volunteer. She is a past advisor to the American Red Cross and Navy Relief Society for military bases and the marine expeditionary forces. She is a past board member of the Twenty Nine Palms Armed Services YMCA New Parent Program a past volunteer with the U.S. Marines Family Readiness Organization and past president of the Brewster Middle School Parent Teacher Organization. Weber attended Texas A&M University and East Texas State University.
