width=71 Gov. Orders U.S. Texas flags to half-staff Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Dolph Briscoe was a friend a mentor and an inspiration as a leader who placed the needs of Texas first. He understood the importance of limited government & low taxes as a way to guard individual liberty and encourage the economic growth that creates jobs for families. Gov. Rick Perry today said that and more after the passing of former Texas governor Dolph Briscoe. I will miss his friendship and wise counsel. Anita and I extend our sincere condolences and prayers to his family friends and admirers all over Texas said Perry.  Gov. Perry ordered U.S. and Texas flags to be lowered to half-staff immediately width=70and remain at half-staff through Friday.  Individuals businesses municipalities counties and other political subdivisions are encouraged to fly flags at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect.
