“States are laboratories of innovation, and I hope the other states will look at what we have done in the State of Texas.”
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – Gov. Rick Perry touted Texas’ successful drug court program at the 2014 World Economic Forum panel “The Drugs Dilemma: Consequences for Society, Politics and Business.” These specialty courts divert minor drug offenders away from incarceration through comprehensive supervision, drug testing, treatment services, immediate sanctions and incentives. The program has led to decreased crime and recidivism rates and a declining number of persons incarcerated in Texas.
“We’ve been very successful in the state of Texas with drug courts,” Gov. Perry said. “States are laboratories of innovation, and I hope the other states will look at what we have done in the State of Texas.”
