Gov. Perry Reappoints Steen to Public Safety Commission

width=72Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Gov. Rick Perry has reappointed John T. Steen Jr. of San Antonio to the Public Safety Commission for a term to expire Jan. 1 2018. The commission formulates and oversees policies for the Texas Department of Public Safety Steen is an attorney in private practice. He is a fellow of the San Antonio Bar Foundation a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and an executive committee member of the University of Texas System Chancellors Council. He is vice chairman of the UT San Antonio Development Board past president of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission a member of the Distinguished Leaders Council and past chairman of the World Affairs Council of San Antonio. He is also a past commissioner and past chair of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and a past member of the Texas Commission on Economy and Efficiency in State Government. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve. Steen received a bachelors degree from Princeton University and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law.
