Gov. Perry: Senate Dist. 22 Special Election Runoff Set for June 22

width=90 Texas Insider Reports AUSTIN Gov. Perry today set Tuesday June 22 2010 as the special runoff election date to fill the Senate District 22 seat vacated by the resignation of Sen. Kip Averitt.  The results of the special election held on May 8 2010 declared that no candidate received a majority of the votes cast as required by Section 203.003 of the Texas Election Code. The early voting period for this special runoff election will be held from June 14 to June 18. The legislator elected in this special runoff election will serve the remainder of Averitts term which expires in January 2011.
