AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced Dec. 18 as the runoff election date to fill the vacancy for House District 97. The seat was left vacant following the resignation of Rep. Anna Mowery. The runoff is necessary because no candidate won a majority of the vote in the Nov. 6 special election.

The runoff is necessary because no candidate won a majority of the vote in the Nov. 6 special election.The early voting period for this run-off election will take place Dec. 10-14. The state representative elected in this special election will serve the remainder of the term to expire in Jan. 2009.
