States Rights Rally to take place Saturday
(AUSTIN) New Revolution Now a grassroots advocacy organization and PAC along with an extensive coalition of grassroots organizations from across the state today called on Governor Rick Perry and the Texas Legislature to protect Texas 10th Amendment rights.
New Revolution Now which was formed to restore personal liberty and economic freedom requested a nullification resolution to invalidate any effects of the federal governments pending healthcare reform. The appeal was made by way of an open letter in the Austin American-Statesman.
Barry Walker Director of New Revolution Now said: As our federal government continues its staggering growth and spending now is the time for states to protect the citizenry and reassert their 10th Amendment rights under the Constitution."
The letter which was signed by more than 700 Texans specifically asks the State Executive and Legislative branches to:
- file suit against the United States government for exceeding its constitutional authority;
- call a special session to pass a nullification resolution; and
- consider halting any business or personal taxes put into place by the healthcare legislation until the United States Supreme Court makes a final ruling on the States actions.
To raise public awareness about this movement
New Revolution Now is holding a States Rights Rally which will take place this Saturday January 16th from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on the South Steps of the Capitol in Austin.
Special guest and nullification expert John Stacy of
NotInTexas.org will be the featured speaker at the event. A full slate of speakers and musical entertainment are planned for the rally.
Texas has never accepted oppression and I pray that it never will" Stacy said.
