Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON DC Today Speaker Boehner announced that the House would vote to form a Select Committee to investigate the terrorist attack on the 11
th Anniversary of 9-11 at the Benghazi consulate where Ambassador Stevens and three other American personnel were killed. This announcement follows a court ruling this week that forced the White House to reveal previously redacted information relevant to Congress request for documents.
In response to the Speakers announcement Rep. Ralph Hall (TX-04) made the following statement:
Since the tragic events in Benghazi over two years ago I have been vocal in my frustration with this Administrations efforts to mislead the American people about the events that took place that day and with the Administrations weak response for justice. I supported House committee investigations have personally asked Leadership to form a Select Committee to investigate further and long ago co-sponsored H.Res. 36 Establishing a select committee to investigate and report on the attack on the United States consulate in Benghazi Libya.
I am glad that Speaker Boehner has heeded the call from many House Republicans including me in the wake of new White House emails showing its involvement in pushing a false and misleading narrative regarding an Internet video.
The American people particularly the families of Ambassador Stevens Information Officer Sean Smith and former Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods have the right to know the full truth about what happened that night. I look forward to voting in favor of the House Select Committee and hope that it promptly yields missing answers from this Administration so that full justice can be given and measures can be taken to prevent future attacks against our diplomatic missions and those who work there in the interest of our country."
