Hall Supports Responsible Energy & Water Appropriations Bill

ralph-m-hallTexas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, DC . . . Yesterday evening, Rep. Hall (TX-04) voted in favor of H.R. 2609, The Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2014, which passed the House 227-198.

“Many families across the country are struggling with tighter budgets and don’t have enough to pay bills, let alone enough to pay for wasteful government spending,” said Hall. “In order to strengthen the economy and help Americans achieve personal financial security, the government must respect taxpayer dollars, rein in spending, and prioritize the budget wisely. I am pleased today’s bill does just that.”

The Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act reduces spending by nearly $3 billion from the Fiscal Year 2013 enacted level and $700 million below the sequestration level. It prioritizes the most vital programs – nuclear defense programs that keep Americans safe; Army Corps of Engineer Programs that  encourage economic growth, public health, and safety; and “all-of-the-above” energy solutions that would lower rising gas prices – while strategically reducing lower-priority programs and eliminating waste.

“Washington doesn’t need to spend more, it needs to spend better,” Hall continued. “As the House continues the appropriations process for Fiscal Year 2014, I will continue to support a responsible budget that makes the government more efficient, effective, and accountable.”
