AUSTIN - Agriculture Commissioner Candidate Hank Gilbert recently won two big endorsements over the weekend. Earlier today his campaign announced the support of the Texas AFL-CIOs COPE & the Austin Progressive Coalition.

In a strong show of support the political arm of the states top labor organization overwhelmingly gave its support to Hank Gilbert in his run for Agriculture Commissioner.
It is with great pride that I receive the support of the hard working Texans who make up the Texas AFL-CIO. The membership clearly remembers which candidate in this race stood up to kill the TTC and stop the sale of our roads to foreign companies. Im truly honored to have the support of the AFL-CIO and thank them for their faith in me and my campaign.
The Texas AFL-CIO is a state federation of labor unions representing 220000 members in Texas. It advocates for working people -- union and non-union alike -- in the political and legislative arenas. It provides support for unions in organizing new members and it coordinates a variety of community service volunteer and educational programs.
Hank Gilbert wins coveted APC endorsement
The Austin Progressive Coalition a coalition of the Central Austin Democrats and the University Democrats endorsed Hank on Saturday at their general meeting in Austin. The APC endorsement is extremely important in a Democratic primary as it represents two very large and powerful organizations in Austin.
The endorsement not only represents the will of the individual members - a very good indication of how a race is going to turn out - but also more than 20000 door hangers distributed in targeted areas in Austin.
It was a real pleasure to meet with both of these organizations and their members. These are two of the core groups that keep Austin blue and help elect Democrats cycle after cycle. Im extremely humbled by their endorsement of me and the kind of issues based campaign Im running said Mr. Gilbert.
