As a boy I assumed my father set his wedding day for Independence Day 1964 because he was a patriot. As years have gone by I know understand he might have done it so he would never forget his anniversary.
Regardless
we all have special reasons to love July 4th public and private.
Our contributor Raquel Okyay returns this week with her own thoughts on the Fourth of July it is wonderful to have her back.
It is not really my lane but I am still hurting from the kidney punch the Supreme Court delivered Thursday morning on President Barack Obamas Affordable Care Act. Please follow the developments in the fight over ObamaCare at Human Events.
It is the best coverage anywhere.
Later Thursday afternoon the House voted to hold Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. in both civil and criminal Contempt of Congress. Praise and thanks to Rep. Darrell E. Issa (R-Calif.) who exhausted every possible solution short of holding these votes.
We may never know what really happened in Operation Fast & Furious we certainly would know next to nothing if the Republicans did not have the House. It was a fatally flawed scheme and we deserve to know what happened.
If you are looking for book that collects all of the characters and subplots check out Kate Pavlichs fantastic opus
Fast & Furious: Barack Obamas Bloodiest Scandal and the Shameless Cover-Up.
Finally this week we will run the first of Jarrett Stepmans two-part interview with retired Lt. Gen. David R. Palmer about his phenomenal book George Washingtons Military Genius.
Palmer is brilliant historian of the early days of our Republic. Jarrett will spend our nations
birthday at Mount Vernon so if you see him there be sure to greet and meet him.
Happy July 4th!
