Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas  The Texas Veterans Commission announced earlier today the availability of 
grants to be awarded to organizations seeking to help veterans and their families.  The grant solicitation opened July 13 2012 and applications are due by August 7 2012 at 5:00 p.m. 
Among the services eligible to be funded are transportation to medical facilities counseling for Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) short term financial assistance legal assistance and housing assistance for homeless veterans and their families.
Through the generous contributions of all those interested in helping Texas veterans we were able to help over 92000 veterans and their families through over 90 grantees dedicated to veteran support." says Thomas Palladino Executive Director. 
We are excited to receive new applications for our funding and continue the mission of serving veterans and their families in Texas."
Eligible grant applicants are units of local government 501(c)(19) posts or organizations of past or present members of the Armed Forces 501(c)(3) private nonprofit corporations authorized to conduct business in Texas and Texas chapters of 501(c)(4) veterans service organizations.

Veterans Cash has generated millions of dollars for the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans Assistance since the tickets introduction 

in November 2009.
Individuals can also support the Fund for Veterans Assistance by making an online donation through 
www.tvc.texas.gov or on their vehicle registration form by specifying an amount at the bottom right corner of the form. 
Donations to the Fund for Veterans Assistance are tax deductible under the provisions of Section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Texas Veterans Commission
The mission of the Texas Veterans Commission is to advocate for and provide superior service to veterans and their families in the areas of disability claims assistance employment services education benefits and grant funding. 
Over 200 skilled counselors in 75 cities provide one-on-one guidance to veterans and their families to ensure they receive all of the benefits to which they are entitled.
