Families across East Texas observe Veterans Day by honoring the courageous service of millions of American soldiers sailors marines and airmen. Veterans Day is an opportunity for all Americans to honor the service and sacrifice of those who fought to defend our freedom.
After World War I President Woodrow Wilson recommended a special observance known as Armistice Day “for those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory.”
Throughout our nation’s history whenever our country is attacked or when the enemies of freedom threaten peace in our world American men and women in uniform from all backgrounds and all walks of life answer the call to defend us. Over the past 232 years millions of brave Americans have gone into harm’s way so that we could enjoy the blessings of peace and prosperity.
This Veterans Day with our nation at war let us remember the sacrifices made by the brave men and women of our armed forces. We are eternally indebted to them. It is through their sacrifice and patriotism that we have the security prosperity and freedom that we enjoy today.
As President Calvin Coolidge once said “the nation which forgets its defenders will itself be forgotten.”
Hensarling to Host Forums on Medicare Prescription Drug Program’s Open Season
As part of my effort to provide excellent service to 5th District residents my office has been hosting a series of constituent forums this year. I hope that you will take the opportunity to attend one or more of these forums so that I can help you if you need assistance.
During the week of November 17 my staff will host forums regarding Medicare Prescription Drug Program’s open season which runs from November 15-December 31. During these weeks individuals are eligible to change their Medicare Prescription Drug plans. My staff and a representative from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will be available to discuss general program information new plan benefits program updates and answer any questions.
