Ill put it this way. The desire is there; thats one component. The other component is opportunity…If I run for office my goal is to recognize that government doesnt need to have lower taxes a smaller budget …Government needs to spend money more responsibly" Alec Baldwin said in an interview with Playboy on whether hed consider running for office or not. While I disagree with Baldwin on lots of issues including his comments about lower taxes and a smaller budget he does make one very valid point: the government needs to spend responsibly.
Senator
Tom Coburn of Oklahoma released a report this week that detailed wasteful spending projects being funded by the stimulus package".
Among the top offenders were $1.5 million for a wastewater treatment plant that yields more expensive utilities in Oklahoma $1 billion for a power plant that according to Coburn may never work $3.4 million for an eco-passage" to transport animals under a busy road and $10 million to an abandoned train station.
I opposed the stimulus bill because I was concerned that 80 to 90 percent of the spending would not be true stimulus. I hope I am proven wrong. Yet our initial findings continue to show that taxpayers are not getting the value they deserve and need" Coburn said in a prepared statement.
Spending is out of control in Washington and it doesnt seem to be stopping anytime soon. The White House and Congress seem to forget that these nonsensical projects are not only being paid for by current taxpayers but by taxpayers of generations to come.

According to the
Heritage Foundation President Obamas big budget will increase deficit spending almost seven times more than under President Kennedy.
To be fair the Heritage Foundation reports that Republicans in 2005 let their spending get out of control by requesting 13997 wasteful pork projects or earmarks" as they are more commonly known. But that number is quickly rising under the Democrats up to 11914 earmarks in this year alone.
The problems our nation faces can be mitigated if Congress would stop acting like the spoiled kids on My Super Sweet Sixteen" and cut bloated budgets decrease spending and lower taxes.
