am thankful to everyone who worked alongside me during the campaign and awarded me their vote" said State Rep. Harvey Hilderbran (R-Kerrville) after winning the Republican nomination for Texas House District 53 with 72 of the vote.
Hilderbran said that he credits the successes of the 2011 legislative session including his actions as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee for playing a role in the outcome.
Hilderbran led the race in all 12 counties that make up District 53 including three new counties that were added to the district under 2011s redistricting plan: Bandera Edwards and Medina.
My constituents were very clear about their priorities last year and I worked hard alongside my fellow Republicans to deliver on their mandates and to provide effective dependable leadership" Hilderbran said.
Last session we balanced the state budget without raising taxes helped protect election integrity by passing a voter identification bill approved pro-family and pro-life legislation strengthened state border security increased school funding and restored more local control to public school boards."
Voters from our three new counties who may not have been as familiar with me personally were able to look at my record and our successes in 2011. They saw that I work hard for my constituents and for conservative principles." Hilderbran added.
I am thankful that Republican voters from throughout District 53 recognized what we have accomplished so far and that they have entrusted me to continue serving them. I am privileged to have their support" said Hilderbran who serves as chairman of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee.
Hilderbran does not face a Democrat opponent in Novembers primary election.
