Killeen Boy Scouts will place American flags on every grave

AUSTIN - On Wednesday November 11 at 8 a.m. local Boy Scouts will pay their respects to fallen soldiers buried at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. To commemorate Veterans Day each Boy Scout will place an American flag on a grave.
*The flag ceremony is a wonderful Veterans Day tradition at the Texas State Veterans Cemeteries* said Jerry Patterson Commissioner of the Texas Veterans Land Board. *I*m proud to see Killeen Boy Scouts leading the way in honoring fallen Texas veterans at this dignified place of rest.*
The Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen is one of three statewide. The cemetery has an ultimate capacity for up to 50000 burials and interments of cremated remains. Among the features: A covered open-air structure for committal services a visitors center a computer system for locating specific graves or interments an attractive gateway entrance a 60-foot flagpole a paved assembly area for special occasions such as Veterans Day and Memorial Day observances an avenue of flags and a memorial walkway.
