HOT RACE: Jason Isaac vs. Patrick Rose Debate in House District 45

width=171Isaac says he believes local government governs best Rose responds he could not disagree more." Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Patrick Rose Democrat incumbent State Representative from Dripping Springs finally matched rhetoric to his liberal record in a letter to Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) members last week:  Bigger government is better.     Rose and his Republican challenger Jason Isaac also of Dripping Springs just southwest of Austin discussed the Pedernales Electric issue in a debate recently where Rose made his position clear the board of directors of the PEC elected by rate-paying constituents locally cannot handle their own business and therefore Rose said need state intervention regarding board management.    Isaac responded saying Roses stance is especially troubling considering there is a newly elected board that is attempting to govern itself and make necessary changes to gain back the confidence of its members after recent width=150corruption and mismanagement by some former board members.   Said Isaac I am a proud member of PEC and I believe the new board who we elected deserves a chance to succeed. I think its important we let the newly elected board and its members PEC ratepayers in particular take care of their business while legislators take care of their business."  Rose responded that he could not disagree more." Isaac said he believes local government governs best. In the letter Rose said At the annual members meeting this summer co-op members sent a message that they want an open and transparent PEC by adopting a Members Bill of Rights that included positive open records and open meetings requirements."   Rose apparently not satisfied with self-governance added a litany of other reforms he would like to see at the PEC saying:

None of these reforms were included in the Members Bill of Rights" but all of these reforms I believe would be welcomed by width=71a large majority of the co-op membership."

But the membership has already spoken Isaac said.

PEC members authored the Members Bill of Rights themselves.  Do you really need to be reminded that the PEC is governed by a board of directors elected by the people? They didnt need your interference said Isaac.

In August Rep. Rose (D-Dripping Springs) talked about breaking up the PEC.  Responded Isaac I could not think of a better way to kill jobs than breaking up PEC and that is exactly what we dont need right now."

Patrick Rose and the state of Texas need to take a step back and give the PEC an chance to succeed.  We dont need bigger government encroaching on us" said Isaac.

Countered Rose the Democrat incumbent If we had just sat back and let the PEC board worry about their business members of that cooperative width=106would not have the sort of reforms.  Some of the progress that has been made can be undone with actions by the current board."   Said Isaac the Republican challenger It is the height of arrogance and typical of a big-government liberal to suggest that the State of Texas needs to interfere with a locally elected body such as the PEC in the midst of adopting internal reforms.

If Big Brother and Patrick Rose are going to wield the big-government hammer then what is the point of elections? asked Isaac.
