
AUSTIN--Proponents of House Bill 109 to create a Choose Life license plate in Texas will testify before the House Transportation Subcommittee on License Plates which is scheduled to convene today at noon or upon adjournment of the House in room E2.026 in the Capitol Extension.

HB 109 authored by State Rep. Larry Phillips (R-Sherman) has been endorsed by 81 (of 150) members of the Texas House. The Senate companion is SB 1098 by Sen. John Carona (R-Dallas).
Among those testifying will be Lori DeVillez of the Austin Pregnancy Resource Center; Terry Williams of Central Texas LifeCare; Kimberly Speirs an adoptive parent and former options counselor for pregnant women; and Joe Pojman Ph.D. the executive director of Texas Alliance for Life. Pojman will present more than 14000 signatures collected on a petition in support of the bill and pledging to purchase the specialty plate when it becomes available.
The Choose Life license plate will raise funds to promote the option of adoption to women who are experiencing crisis pregnancies assisting them in their time of need and building families in Texas.
