House Passes Doc Fix Legislation

Urge Congress to Provide Another Fix NOW  width=92Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN TEXAS -- On Monday November 29 the House passed the Doc Fix legislation to extend to the end of the year the moratorium on the SGR mandated 23.5 cuts in Medicare physician reimbursements. With both the Senate and House likely to adjourn December 17 for the Christmas holidays they have about two weeks to come up with a solution and stop the 29.6 cuts scheduled for January 1 2011. There are two viable solutions:
  1. Replace the flawed SGR with a more workable formula or
  2. Extend the moratorium for a least 1 year.
As a solution has not been proposed since 2002 and the 111th Congress is not noted for reasonable solutions they should extend the moratorium for at least one year. With medical groups estimating that as many as two thirds of doctors would stop taking new Medicare patients if the cuts go into effect Congress has had to suspend the cuts but they have done nothing to correct the situation. This impacts active duty and retired military because Tricare reimbursement rates are tied to Medicare rates. Please send an editable message to your elected officials to extend the moratorium for at least one year to give the 112th Congress time to resolve the issue.
