Sanders & Clinton split evenly among women.
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas The Democratic primary is still going as Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders came from being behind in the polls to win Indiana over former Secretary of State Hillary
Clinton. And for Republicans
Donald Trump won as predicted. So lets take a
look at how women voted in Indiana.
The Indiana Republican Party returned to a more narrow gender gap pattern with 53 of the states primary electorate made up of men and 47 made up of women.
- Both sexes voted for Trump
- More men than women voted for Trump 59 to 47
- Thats a gender gap of 12 points.
Cruz came in second but it was a distant second with 33 of men and a closer second with 41 of women voting for the Texas senator.
The Democratic primary electorate faced a much wider gender gap as has been the norm this election. 59 of Democratic primary voters in Indiana were women and just 41 were men for a gender gap of 18.
- Sanders won over 57 of men
- but split evenly with Hillary Clinton among women.
- Sanders doesnt usually do this well with women voters in close elections which could be a sign that Clinton isnt going to run away with the female vote as easily as thought.
The Republican primary has effectively ended but Democrats will face off next in
California Nebraska and West Virginia.
Texas Sen.
Ted Cruz who had been in second place in terms of delegates suspended his campaign Tuesday night. And Ohio Gov.
John Kasich suspended his Wednesday afternoon making him the last candidate to drop out as he placed fourth in the Republican delegate totals.
Florida Sen.
Marco Rubio who dropped out in March is still leading Kasich in the Republican delegate count.
Who would have thought that a Republican contest among 17 people would have ended before the Democratic contest among five?
