“I am a lifelong Republican who has practiced law in this area for 24 years before every level of state and federal court covering Texas. I am running for two reasons: I have the experience and judgment to be a good appellate justice; and the incumbent does not. The hard truth is that my primary opponent has been rated as the worst appellate justice in the Houston area for years” said Hubbard.
“I am not the only person who can see that we Republicans have a problem with the incumbent on the First Court of Appeals” said Hubbard. “If Republicans won’t fix this problem the voters in the general election will; and they may end up voting against other Republicans as well. I am running to fix this problem before it hurts our party and the good hard-working Republican judges in this community who are standing for re-election.”
Hubbard stated that he felt that his “experience handling complex litigation parallel civil and criminal cases construction law cases and commercial risk management issues for clients would strengthen the current court.” He finished his announcement by saying “I respect our jury system and our laws. If elected I will apply the law as it is written and as it was intended in a manner consistent with sound judicial principles. I will be ready to do the work for the citizens of this district on the day I am sworn-in to office.”
Ed Hubbard graduated from Southern Methodist University law school. He is licensed to practice before the trial and appellate courts of Texas Illinois and the District of Columbia. He also is admitted to three U.S. Courts of Appeals as well as all the U.S. District Courts in Texas the U.S. Tax Court and the Federal Court of Claims. Hubbard is a trained mediator; a member of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity; a member of the Houston Bar Association the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association; and is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.
