Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Mike Huckabee loves Iowa the state that gave him the most support during his 2008 run for president. So when news broke today that Texas Gov. Rick Perry would announce a run for president on Saturday in South Carolina Huckabee had this to say on Fox News.
Its a tactical blunder … The people of Iowa work very hard to make the straw poll the biggest political moment in the summer ... If you have a candidate who says You know what Im not gonna be there Im gonna be over in South Carolina trying to pull as much attention as possible away from your big event Ill tell you the people of Iowa are gracious loving kind people & theyre not gonna take kindly to someone in essence dissing their big event. Which is what it will be reviewed as in the state of Iowa."
As Examiner colleague Joel Gehrke noted just now Actually gracious loving

kind people would get over it.
Huckabee is still a bit miffed from the 2008 campaign when the Texas governor endorsed Rudy Giuliani.
For all his new found commitment to hyper-conservatism hell get to explain why he supported pro-abortion pro-same sex marriage Rudy Guiliani last time. Huckabee emailed to his supporters last month.
