The Theme: Dont Mess With Texas!

AUSTIN Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams will be among the featured speakers at Austins Dont Mess With Texas! Tea Party scheduled for Wed. April 15 at Austin City Hall.
The Dont Mess With Texas! Tea Party is part of a nationwide movement of protests against high tax burdens unrestrained spending and the federal stimulus and bailout packages. Hundreds of citizens will fill the courtyard in front of Austin City Hall to send that message home.
The rally is jointly organized by the Texas chapter of Americans for Prosperity (
www.afptx.org) and Texans for Fiscal Responsibility (
www.empowertexans.com) and other participating organizations listed on the AFP and TFR Web sites.
The theme Dont Mess With Texas! is simple and clear" said TFR President Michael Quinn Sullivan. While the rest of the nation has had a downward economic spiral Texas has led in job growth exports and Fortune 500 companies."
The Lone Star States example should be emulated said AFP Texas Director Peggy Venable.
Congress should be looking to Texas not trying to drag us down to Californias level" she said.
Venable said its been the states history of lower taxes open business environment and tort reform that has pushed Texas to the economic forefront. She said lawmakers should be cautious about accepting mandates from Washington that would hinder the states economic advantages.
We have a strong message and positive story here in Texas" added Sullivan. This is a celebration of what weve been doing right and reminder that its liberty not mandates and debt that provide general prosperity. We need to remind our politicians to stay on that path."
