
WASHINGTON D.C. As debate on the healthcare reform legislation continued in the U.S. Senate U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison introduced three amendments to the healthcare reform bill. Senator Hutchisons state opt out amendment was pending and expected to receive a vote last evening.
The three Hutchison amendments propose to:
- Permanently eliminate the marriage penalty and create a permanent state sales tax deduction
- Protect small businesses from costs associated with the mandates included in the Democrats healthcare bill and
- Permit states the right to opt out of the healthcare reform bill.
Senator Hutchison also planed to ask for votes on the other two amendments.
