Texas Citizen Action Networks President Jim Cardle following educator demonstrations at the State Capitol protesting freezes at current funding levels.
This budget crisis if one wants to call it that calls for every Texan to make a commitment to help Texas prioritize every dollar within every category that our state government is spending. Now is the time for a top to bottom review an thank goodness voters spoke in November with a clear voice in electing common sense realists" Cardle said. Because of this spending puzzle it is important that we task every level of government to find potential savings. The nation is watching to see if Texas can solve this puzzle without raising taxes and Legislators by & large appear to be saying We can! On education spending the legislature clearly ought to look at consolidating duplicate administrative services & functions energy savings through more efficient climate controls and how much we pay or better yet why we need all of these back-end administrators" said Cardle. Now is the time to make reasonable choices that puts our state on the road to fiscal sanity. Looking for new revenue sources before we have eliminated all of the wasteful spending will not solve the problem." We have to work together to identify creative solutions across all of our state government not demand & demonstrate saying certain areas cant be addressed" Cardle said.
